Women: How Do Hormones Affect Weight Loss?

December 5, 2017 by Liza 2 Comments

Some women are blessed with bodies that are well-balanced and they are able to keep their weight at an ideal place with a little exercise and diet. Others have to be extremely strict about exercising every day and never eating junk. Do you sometimes think that you’re on a roll, but then one week later you can barely get yourself to the gym, and you really can’t do much beyond just getting there? Have you ever asked yourself, “How do hormones affect weight loss?” Because that might be the answer to your questions.

As awesome as this man is simply for knowing all he does about women’s cycles, there are a few things that should be clarified before watching this video.

  1. Not all women have 28-day cycles. He is simply using those parameters. A healthy cycle is between 21 and 35 days.
  2. You can find your own cycle length and how to identify your period by charting your cycle using rules explained by the fertility awareness method.
  3. Hormonal birth control doesn’t actually manipulate your cycle just as “manipulation.” It stops your cycle completely, and then when you come off of the hormones, your body will begin cycling again (sometimes it does take a long time, though). To learn more about the difference between hormonal and non-hormonal birth control, check out this article.

Just a final thought for you ladies before the video. We have wonderful bodies that are able to accomplish feats like carrying and giving birth to a baby larger than an American football. But sometimes those same bodies seem like they’re working against us. That doesn’t mean anything about you as a person, but it does give you a great opportunity and incentive to learn more about why you may feel that way. Enjoy the video!

(As a side note, I really appreciate this man. He has taken the time to understand the basics of the menstrual cycle and then talk about it on the worldwide web.)

Oh, it is so hard to be a women… you are in a constant change and your body (or the way you see it) can change in a day… but once you start listening to your body and seeing what happens to your body through this period you can easily predict what is going to happen… like, when I am suddenly craving for ice cream and then eat a lot of it then I can be sure that in couple of days I will have my menstruation.
Haha, but thanks for sharing this video, I appreciate this man for making himself an expert in a field that most man know nothing about 🙂

      Hey again Melissa,

My hubby is very into exercise and health, especially weight training, and I’ve always said my body just doesn’t work at losing fat/gaining muscle the same way his does. As soon as I found this video, I had to show him, just so he knew I wasn’t making stuff up! It was an “aha!” moment for him, and it really helped me validate that there are certain times when I’m great at exercising and eating healthy, and then other times when it takes a lot of effort and self restraint!

This man is seriously awesome just for being able to talk about what he does. My hubby has a hard time saying words like “menstruation” even when it’s just me around 😉

      Thanks for the note!
